Write a client proposal from a discovery call
The best proposals repeat the client's problem back in their own words before saying a single thing about you. Your call notes already hold those words. AI helps you find them and build the proposal around them.
Steps
- Write up your discovery call notes, including the client's exact phrases where you can remember them.
- Decide your price and timeline yourself first. Do not ask AI to price your work.
- Paste the prompt with your notes, price and timeline.
- Check that the problem section sounds like the client talking, not like you.
- Send it within 48 hours of the call, while the conversation is still fresh for them.
The prompt
Copy it, then replace the [highlighted parts] with your own details.
I am a [YOUR ROLE, e.g. freelance brand designer]. Here are my notes from a discovery call with a potential client: [PASTE YOUR NOTES] My proposed timeline: [TIMELINE] My price: [PRICE AND WHAT IT INCLUDES] Write a one-page proposal with: 1. The problem, described in the client's own words from my notes 2. What success looks like for them 3. My approach, in three to five plain steps 4. Timeline and what I need from them at each stage 5. The investment, stated once, clearly, with what is included and what is not Confident but not salesy. No filler about my passion or experience.

Make it better
- Ask it to write a two-line summary for the top of the email the proposal goes in.
- Ask what a cautious client would question in this proposal, and answer it in the document before they ask.
- Offer one smaller option as well. A clear second choice often turns "not now" into "yes, the smaller one".
